Job Description

We are looking for an EMR Data Migrations Specialist to take ownership of the accurate and seamless migration of electronic medical record (EMR) data between systems during client onboarding. You will bring your in-depth understanding of the complexity and sensitivity of health information to plan and execute highly complex data migrations while maintaining data integrity.

You will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and healthcare providers to facilitate data transfers, troubleshoot migration issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Data migration planning: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand the scope and requirements of EMR data migrations. Develop and implement comprehensive data migration plans that ensure the accurate transfer of data while minimizing disruption to healthcare operations.
  • Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL): Extract data from legacy EMR systems, ensuring that all required data is captured. Transform and normalize the data to meet the format and standards of the target EMR system. Load the transformed data into the new EMR system, ensuring accurate mapping of data fields.
  • Quality assurance: Conduct detailed reviews and audits of migrated data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and client expectations. Identify and resolve data integrity issues that may arise during migration.
  • Client and internal communication: Provide clear and timely updates to clients and internal stakeholders regarding the progress of data migrations. Assist in addressing any client concerns or issues related to data migration.
Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive experience with data migrations and a strong understanding of database management, mapping, and integrity.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and ICD-10, as well as data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tools and methodologies. Proficiency in data migration tools, SQL and other database query languages.
  • Ability to analyze and convert healthcare data in HL7, CDS, CSV and SQL formats for extraction, transformation and import.
  • Worked with EMR systems like OSCAR Pro, Juno, Telus, Accuro, or a similar platform.
