Job Summary

Adecco Canada is currently recruiting for an ATIP Consultant to support a 2-year contract. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

Conduct ATIP file review, research, and analysis to process requests for information under the Access to Information Act.
Prepare correspondence, including extension letters, consultation letters, and response letters.
Coordinate and manage consultations with various third parties, provincial, and international organizations.
Prepare complex case rationales to facilitate consultations and resolve information release issues.
Recommend decisions for requests submitted under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
Coordinate the defense of decisions on complaints submitted to the Office of the Information Commissioner and/or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Provide comprehensive advice to management and staff on the interpretation and application of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act, ATIP policy matters, and proactive/informal disclosure of information.

Requirements

The ATIP Consultant must meet the following mandatory requirements:

A minimum of 7 years of experience within the last 10 years with a Federal departmental designated ATIP Office in performing the following tasks:
Interpreting and providing guidance on the application of Access to Information and Privacy legislation on Access to Information and Privacy files for a government institution.
Researching, reviewing, and analyzing documents for disclosure in accordance with ATIP legislation and Treasury Board policies, guidelines, and jurisprudence.
Negotiating with ATIP requesters, offices of primary interest (OPI), and other government institutions.
Experience with researching, reviewing, analyzing, performing consultations, negotiating with various internal/external stakeholders, negotiating extensions when required, applying exemptions and exclusions on documents for disclosure, and seeking approvals from the ATIP Coordinator.
