Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the Canadian Red Cross is prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct workforce assessments and develop plans to address operational gaps within specific geographical areas.
  • Support recruitment efforts by identifying and engaging volunteers to meet program needs.
  • Oversee volunteer orientation programs for all emergency response initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance volunteer engagement through communication and recognition programs.
  • Coordinate disaster preparedness activities and actively participate in emergency response operations.
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders to strengthen community intervention capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A university or college degree in project management, community development, volunteer resource management, or a related field is required.
  • Three years of experience working in community programs with a proven track record in community and municipal relations management is essential.
  • Experience in emergency management is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

This role primarily involves working in a comfortable office environment. However, it may require occasional work outside of standard business hours and the ability to travel for meetings and field assignments.
