Job Summary

Algoma Family Services is seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our Community Support Team. As a Counsellor, you will work with children and youth who are experiencing social and emotional challenges, as well as behavioural difficulties impacting their mental and physical health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat children and youth using a strength-based, solution-focused, and family-centered approach.
  • Coordinate and facilitate evidence-informed groups for various age groups based on service demand.
  • Work effectively with children, youth, and families in a therapeutic goal-oriented way.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the family and other service providers.
  • Provide services in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree of Social Work or a degree in the Social Sciences.
  • Current registration and in good standing with regulated professional college (RSW, RP) is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children, youth, and families in a therapeutic setting.
  • Knowledge of child, youth, and family development (psychological, emotional, physical, social).
  • High level of maturity and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated leadership qualities with competence in making and implementing decisions.
