Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counsellor to join our team at the Cancer Genetics Clinic.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide family risk assessment, diagnosis, management, education, and support to patients and their families. This includes obtaining patient histories, reviewing relevant data, determining the risk of hereditary cancer syndromes, and eligibility for genetic testing.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the regional cancer genetics care pathway
- Liaise with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely genetic testing results
- Provide education and support to patients and their families on genetic risk assessment and management
- Collaborate with medical oncologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have a Master's Degree from an ABGC-accredited Genetic Counselling Program and be certified or board eligible with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling - Conseil Canadien de Conseil Génétique (CBGC-CCCG). Previous experience in a cancer genetics clinic is preferred.
