Job Summary
The Cancer Genetics Clinic at Hamilton Health Sciences provides centralized genetic counselling and assessment services to patients across the region. As a Genetic Counsellor, you will work with a team of medical oncologists and other healthcare professionals to provide family risk assessment, diagnosis, management, education, and support to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain patient histories and review relevant data
- Determine the risk of hereditary cancer syndromes and eligibility for genetic testing
- Develop and maintain the regional cancer genetics care pathway
- Liaise with the laboratory for specimen collection and coordination
- Participate in research and supervise student learners and volunteers
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited Genetic Counselling Program
- ABGC and/or CBGC certified and/or board eligible
- Previous experience in a cancer genetics clinic preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of genetic susceptibility to disease
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and electronic health record systems
