The successful candidate will provide leadership, informal assessment, service navigation, youth engagement, and support for youth associated with the assigned school facility and its immediate community. They will champion youth health, health equity, and facilitate youth engagement as a component of health-promoting schools.
The Youth Health Centre Coordinator will work with youth and foster cooperation and collaboration among school administrators, teachers, SchoolsPlus, guidance, student/youth support workers, primary health care, mental health and addictions, and other community partners to ensure youth have access to support, programs, and services within the school and community that promote health.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a baccalaureate degree in a relevant health care discipline, such as registered nursing, occupational therapy, social work, or nutrition. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in a relevant field, with direct experience working with youth. They must be bilingual in French and English, both written and verbal, and have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. They will have a demonstrated ability to critically assess situations, navigate complex scenarios, and make sound decisions using a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach.
We are committed to creating opportunities for meaningful youth engagement and fostering youth leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application of public health principles and practices, partnership development, and community development. Experience relevant to children and youth, health promotion strategies in school and community settings is an asset.
Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent part-time position, working 35 hours bi-weekly for an approximate ten-month period, aligning with the school calendar year. The salary is pro-rated to 0.42 FTE, paid over a twelve-month period, contributing to a period of leave over 8 weeks during a pre-determined summer break in July and August.
The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
