About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Autism Intervention Specialist to join our Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS) team. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will provide person-centered services to preschool-age children with autism and their families. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing effective intervention plans that meet the unique needs of each child.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate goal-setting processes with families to identify their child's needs;
- Provide assessments related to identified goals and develop, implement, and coordinate resulting intervention programs;
- Contribute to family education and participate in quality improvement initiatives related to process and practice.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:
A Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Board-certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA);Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body in Nova Scotia;A valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle;CPR certification within the last 12 months and First Aid certification;At least two years of recent experience working with children with autism and their families;Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in autism intervention;Excellent clinical care skills, including assessment, development, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of intervention plans;Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of an interprofessional team;Superior presentation, facilitation, and communication skills; andExcellent time management, organization, and solution-focused skills.Preferred Qualifications
- Education, training, and/or experience in evidence-based autism interventions such as Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), Positive Behavior Support (PBS), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Early Start Denver Model (ESDM);
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention;
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French and Arabic.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary range for this position is $45,667 - $61,910 per year, based on designation. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including health and dental coverage, pension plan, and generous vacation entitlement.
