Job Summary

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breast Imaging Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality breast imaging procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform breast imaging procedures using various modalities, including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adhering to quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and provide patient care.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide exceptional care and support.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest imaging technologies, techniques, and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Certificate in Breast Imaging (CBI) or Certificate in Breast Imaging - Diagnostic (CBI-D) from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Graduation from an approved radiology technology program with a strong foundation in breast imaging principles and practices.
  • Eligibility for membership in the CAMRT and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Three (3) years recent, related radiological experience, including two (2) years performing breast imaging, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of breast imaging protocols, applications, and equipment, with a thorough understanding of the principles of breast imaging and mammography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to meet the requirements of the job, including standing for long periods and lifting equipment.
