Island Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breast Imaging Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality breast imaging procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities- Perform breast imaging procedures using various modalities, including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
- Provide patient care and education, ensuring patients are comfortable and informed throughout the imaging process.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, adhering to quality control standards and ensuring optimal performance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and imaging services.
- Certificate in Breast Imaging (CBI) or Certificate in Breast Imaging - Diagnostic (CBI-D) from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Graduation from an approved radiology technology program with a strong foundation in breast imaging principles and practices.
- Eligibility for membership in the CAMRT and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Three years of recent, related radiological experience, including two years of performing breast imaging, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Working knowledge of breast imaging protocols, applications, and equipment, with a thorough understanding of principles and practices.
- Knowledge of radiology systems, including PACS and RIS, to ensure seamless integration with our imaging services.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Physical ability to meet the requirements of the job, including standing for extended periods and lifting equipment as needed.
