Tunnel Superintendent Job Description

Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our underground infrastructure team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of tunnel construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage tunnel crews to ensure compliance with safety protocols and project schedules.
  • Develop and implement safety plans to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to coordinate tunnel construction activities.
  • Monitor and control costs, resources, and timelines to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Provide guidance and training to tunnel crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Practical training, classroom, or simulation experience.
  • Working knowledge of English.
  • 2-3 years of experience in tunnel construction, including SEM/NATM techniques, drill and blast techniques, and Tunnel Boring Machine operations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and MOL's required basic supervisory safety awareness training.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $53 per hour, with shift premium for shift workers.
  • 37.5 hours/week, with opportunities for overtime.
  • Employees receive vacation and statutory holiday pay, health and welfare benefits, and pension.
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Primary work location at 1 Holt Road South, Bowmanville, Ontario, L1C 3Z8.
  • Project, training, and business-related travel may be required.
  • Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.
