About the Role

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our tunnel construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of tunnel projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage tunnel crews to ensure safe and efficient project execution
  • Develop and implement safety plans and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of subordinate foremen and crew members
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including hours worked, materials used, and quality of work
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure project goals and objectives are met
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and project delivery
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Practical training, classroom, or simulation experience
  • Working knowledge of English
  • 2-3 years of experience in tunnel construction, including experience with SEM/NATM techniques, drill and blast techniques, and tunnel boring machine operations
  • Familiarity with OSHA and MOL's required basic supervisory safety awareness training
What We Offer
  • $53 per hour, with shift premium for shift workers
  • 37.5 hours/week, with opportunities for overtime
  • Membership in Labourers International Union of North America, Local 183, with benefits including vacation and statutory holiday pay, health and welfare benefits, and pension
