**About Our Opportunity**

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Exhibition Management Specialist. In this role, you will report to the Chief Curator and be responsible for overseeing the functions and resources of our curatorial and preparation departments.

You will lead a team of assistant curators and preparators, coordinating a schedule that includes temporary exhibitions, permanent collection rotations, touring exhibitions, and other projects such as publications, commissions, and off-site exhibitions. You will administer corresponding budgets and work with staff across various areas of the gallery as well as partner institutions, community stakeholders, and exhibiting artists.

**Primary Accountabilities**

  • Maintain and update the overall exhibitions schedule and individual project timetables in consultation with the Chief Curator and the preparation and collections/registration departments.
  • Act as liaison between the exhibitions and finance departments regarding budgetary issues.
  • Lead cross-departmental dialogue throughout each phase of the installation and de-installation process.
  • Oversee contracts and agreements for exhibitions and manage the processes and relationships of touring exhibitions developed in-house and on loan to the gallery.
  • Manage curatorial and preparation staff and ensure clear communication on direction and expectations.
  • Generate and evaluate exhibitions-related contracts and agreements.
  • Compile information needed for exhibition marketing materials.
  • Work closely and support the collections/registration department on collections and loan-related issues.

**Qualifications and Experience**

To be successful in this role, you should have a University degree in a relevant discipline with several years of related work experience. You should also have knowledge and experience in art gallery best practices and the demonstrated ability to clearly communicate art-related issues to diverse audiences.

You should possess strong interpersonal skills, supervisory experience, and the ability to motivate a large team of specialists while valuing a diverse and inclusive work environment. You should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to be innovative, lead, and execute addressing issues and demands with diplomacy and tact.

You should also have time management skills to successfully develop and manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Additionally, you should be able to develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and have demonstrated skills in maintaining these relationships on interpretation and building maintenance projects.

**Salary Range:** $3,351.92 - $4,189.95 bi-weekly
