Job Summary

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Construction Technology Manager to lead our integrated construction technology initiatives. This is a key role that will drive the adoption of virtual design and construction (VDC) technologies across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Leadership
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy to support our construction operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technology initiatives.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams to ensure successful implementation of VDC technologies.
  • Project Management
    • Lead the development of project models and ensure their accuracy and completeness.
    • Coordinate with design teams and trade partners to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
    • Manage project schedules and resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
    • Collaborate with operations teams to implement process improvements.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of process improvements.
  • Training and Development
    • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that project teams have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use VDC technologies.
    • Collaborate with training teams to develop and implement training programs.
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to project teams to ensure successful adoption of VDC technologies.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technology initiatives.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project progress and technology initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a buildings-industry related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural).
  • Experience
    • 8 to 10 years of construction-related experience, including 4 to 5 years of VDC-related experience.
  • Skills
    • Strong understanding of construction sequences and processes.
    • Strong understanding of and proven experience implementing construction technology.
    • Ability to provide project model management and ensure the quality of virtual design and construction models.
    • Intermediate knowledge of the building construction process and the various building components involved at each stage of construction.
    • Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a complete 3D/4D Building Information Model.
    • Advanced understanding and training in 3D modeling software.
    • Experience with 4D scheduling software and planning tools.
    • Ability to write a Building Information Model (BIM) execution plan.
    • Experience translating project schedule and scope to create a VDC schedule.
