The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy Specialist to lead the maintenance, updating, and evaluation of our comprehensive Privacy program.

We are a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with an innovative, low-barrier approach to healthcare delivery. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.

Job Description

This role will involve identifying, implementing, and maintaining information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with organization management and administration. The successful candidate will serve as a leader for the Privacy Team's activities, provide information privacy consulting services, and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and Security Threat Risk Assessments.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures;
  • Serve as a leader for the Privacy Team's activities;
  • Provide information privacy consulting services;
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and Security Threat Risk Assessments;
  • Manage the Incident Response Management program;
  • Supervise the Privacy and Policy Coordinator;
  • Manage Freedom of Information requests and responses.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., law, social work, health research);
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field;
  • Completion of an Information Access and/or Privacy Professional Certificate Program;
  • Effective management and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information privacy concepts and methods;
  • Healthcare/research experience highly regarded.
Compensation

The salary for this role is estimated to be $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience.
