About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Executive in Payroll Operations to join our team at Calgary Co-op. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a leadership role and drive excellence in payroll management.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll operations, including payroll processing, compliance, and reporting. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll services and maintain accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely payroll information, adhering to government regulations and collective agreements.
- Process payroll costing and statistical hours to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile and balance year-to-date payroll balances, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to internal and external inquiries related to payroll.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to enhance payroll efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead training sessions for centre personnel, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform payroll-related tasks.
- Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, including employees, managers, and vendors.
- Identify and implement payroll changes resulting from new collective agreements, Oracle upgrades/patches, or year-end updates.
- Liaise with HR and Finance departments to ensure alignment and adherence to organizational policies.
- Contribute to special projects and participate in various committees as required.
- Play a key role in promoting a culture of occupational health and safety (OH&S), ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with OH&S policies, procedures, and legislation.
Requirements
- Completion of Level 2 – Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) in the CPA Certified Payroll Manager program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Advanced computer skills in Excel and Word, with ability to learn new software and technologies.
- Strong organizational, planning, and control skills, with minimum supervision required.
Desirable Qualifications
- CPA Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Salary Range:$80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
