We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Architect to join our team and play a key role in building the next-generation home care solutions at Thumbtack. Our company is revolutionizing the way homeowners manage their properties, and we need talented engineers like you to help us achieve this vision.

About the Role

As a Data Engineering Architect, you will be responsible for designing, architecting, and maintaining data systems that serve deeply technical customers. You will work closely with our Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and other Software Engineers to ensure that our data platforms meet the needs of our users.

You will have a strong sense of ownership and pride in your work, from ideation and requirements-gathering to project completion and maintenance. You will also be expected to collaborate with stakeholders across the company to identify gaps in our current capabilities and help build and execute on a multi-year roadmap to close them.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines using modern programming languages such as Python or Scala.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and make recommendations on how to build processes and knowledge bases to support them.
  • Drive data quality and best practices across the company.
  • Help build the next generation of marketing data products at Thumbtack based on real-time data products on top of Apache Kafka.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, at least 2 of which focused in the data domain.
  • Excellent ability to understand the needs of, and collaborate with, stakeholders in other functions, especially other Engineering teams.
  • Strong fluency in at least one major programming language and able to switch between multiple languages.
  • Experience designing, architecting, and maintaining data systems that serve deeply technical customers.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including virtual-first working model, 20 company-wide holidays, library access, WiFi reimbursements, cell phone reimbursements, and Employee Assistance Program for mental health and well-being.
