Principal Hardware Designer

Seeking a Principal Hardware Designer to lead optical transceiver development for an exciting opportunity in Ottawa. This role involves leading design cycles on leading-edge product technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring end-to-end product development solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead hardware design of optical transceivers from concept to pre-production.
- Contribute to all phases of the product development cycle.
- Understand and document electrical and optical requirements.
- Interface with various engineering teams.
- Review high-speed interface simulations.
- Lead design reviews.
- Troubleshoot and improve yield.
- Resolve DFM issues and ensure compliance.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering; M.S. or Ph.D. is considered an asset.
- 10+ years of hardware design experience.
- Experience being part of the development process with 400GB or 800GB optical transceivers.
- Working knowledge of optical transceiver design from conception to production.
- Understanding of system design.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with customers.
- Experience in reviewing RF design and simulation from tools such as CST or HFSS.
- Familiarity with high-speed (RF) and optoelectronic devices: drivers, modulators, lasers, detectors, TIA, CDR/DSP, and equalization.
- Experience with optical transceiver test methodologies.
- Knowledge of various optical transceivers in CWDM and DWDM networks.
- Familiarity with industry standards including IEEE Ethernet standards, OIF standards, and various MSAs.
- Coherent design experience is a plus.
