Estimated Salary: $55.91-$41.42 per hour (RN Level 3)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join our team in providing person-centered healthcare services in our Enhanced Harm Reduction Service centre. As a clinical nurse, you will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide safer, pharmaceutical alternatives to the currently toxic drug supply. This program operates in conjunction with AVI's existing programs and services, including primary care and substance use services.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing care and support for individuals with high levels of poly-substance use and complex primary care health needs;
- Working independently and collaboratively with the team to develop and maintain individualized care plans;
- Providing harm reduction support through collaborative risk reduction strategy, education, distribution of harm reduction supplies, and overdose prevention education;
- Collaborating with participants and the team to identify and address self-identified needs and concerns;
- Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and educational forums to enhance knowledge and skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A designation from an accredited institution and current full registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse;
- Minimum 2-3 years of nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use and mental health challenges;
- Previous experience working in supervised consumption/overdose prevention services or safer supply programs;
- Strong knowledge of substance use disorder and opiate agonist treatment options;
- Demonstrated practice of social justice, anti-racism, decolonization, and trauma-informed care;
- Commitment to harm reduction principles and practice, with experience working alongside coworkers and program participants who experience intersecting systemic oppression;
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills.
