Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Field Technician to join our team at Englobe. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality projects and services across Southern Ontario.

About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional who is passionate about delivering excellent results in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with our project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules to maintain a safe working environment;
  • Assist project managers, engineers, and technicians in fulfilling multi-disciplinary civil, construction risk, and structural health monitoring projects;
  • Coordinate and perform pre-construction condition surveys, vibration and noise monitoring of buildings and structures for construction and blasting related projects;
  • Carry out field geotechnical materials testing and sampling at work sites, including soil compaction testing, concrete testing, asphalt field compaction, and sampling;
  • Consistently execute prescribed company technical procedures, safe work practices, and work plans while completing field, laboratory, and office work;
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and monitoring of geotechnical and structural health instrumentation sensors and data collection networks;
  • Record test data and prepare factual reports, summaries, data sheets, or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor;
  • Maintain databases of records for pre-condition survey files, calibration certificates, equipment manuals, and applicable standards;
  • Participate in project management, site, and staff planning meetings;
  • Handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external contacts;
Your Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with a strong background in civil engineering. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A college diploma in the civil engineering field (technician or technology level);
  • An understanding of civil engineering and construction principles;
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to the team's goals;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to present information concisely and clearly in reports;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain focus in a busy workplace;
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed;
  • The ability to problem-solve and tackle new assignments effectively and efficiently;
  • Flexibility to work out of town, if required;
  • Rotation work at remote mining sites may be possible.
Benefits and Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including group insurance with shared costs upon hiring, group RRSP, telemedicine virtual healthcare service, annual reimbursement of sports expenses, opportunities for skills development, flexible hours, and the ability to compress working hours.
