Cancer Axis

The Cancer Axis is situated on the 10th floor of the CRCHUM, where multiple collaborative projects take place amongst teams focusing on different cancer types and innovative approaches.

Job Description

This role involves working under the supervision of Dr. Saima Hassan in her translational research laboratory focused on breast cancer.

The successful candidate will be involved in mice projects to test combination approaches for PARP inhibitors and collect blood samples for a multi-modal liquid biopsy project.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, western blots, and mice handling (including surgeries for tumor implantations and drug treatments).
  2. Handle and analyze patient samples, including blood samples for ctDNA, DNA/RNA extraction.
  3. Contribute to lab management tasks, data analysis, and project coordination.
  4. Assist in teaching techniques to graduate and undergraduate students within the lab.
  5. Collaborate with lab members to achieve common goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., biological sciences, biochemistry).
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, cancer research, and lab management.
  • Familiarity with English language, both written and spoken.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary according to CRCHUM policies: CAD $62,000 - $80,000 per year.
  • Full-time position, 35 hours per week, daytime from Monday to Friday (with occasional weekends).
