About the Job

The Community Support Specialist is responsible for providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting and within the community. This role involves delivering stimulating recreational support in various locations, enabling the achievement of individual potential while mitigating risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement services within the community, teaching daily living skills, and working towards accomplishing goals set by the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Provide respite support to clients, assisting with in-home daily living skills, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and administering medication when necessary.
  • Offer administrative support, including obtaining client information, preparing notes, and updating log books.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A 2-year Community College diploma in a relevant field, preferably BST, DSW, or CYW.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of service standards for persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Good problem-solving skills, oral communication skills, and written communication skills.
  • CPI, CPR, and First Aid training.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
