About the RoleThe Advisor, Collaboration and Research will be the hub for all course content at Opening Minds, collaborating with colleagues to validate, analyze, and implement improved evidence, practices, and approaches to ensure course participants receive the most relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes to create positive change related to mental-wellness, resiliency, stigma, and helping behaviors.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Opening Minds colleagues to conduct and analyze course assessment activities to measure and improve the impact of Opening Minds courses.
- Collect, analyze, and validate feedback received from internal clients, facilitators, and the community regarding the content of Opening Minds courses.
- Work with Opening Minds colleagues to identify areas for improvement and guide the implementation of validated research into course updates.
- Build and maintain a network of practitioners, partners, and sources to confirm and update evidence-base in Opening Minds courses.
- Establish and lead standing advisory committees for Opening Minds core courses to maintain an ongoing dialogue about how best to achieve our learning outcomes through meaningful content.
- Foster relationships with partners and stakeholders as well as act as primary liaison and collaborator with external stakeholders.
- Review, analyze, and synthesize key reports and relevant literature relevant to Opening Minds courses.
- Maintain a current environmental scan of related offerings and courses.
- Develop and tailor key messages and materials for multiple audiences by collecting, reviewing, and summarizing information from various sources.
- Document and maintain material and resource repositories for various projects.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, public health, education, or a related discipline.
- Advanced degrees (e.g., master's or doctoral) may be preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge mobilization methodologies, including knowledge translation and exchange, stakeholder engagement, evaluation and research impact.
- Demonstrated experience working in evidence-based practices including in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, literature reviews, interviews, case studies, surveys, and quantitative data analysis.
- Strong leadership skills to lead advisory committees, foster collaboration among team members, and drive initiatives for continuous improvement in mental health courses.
- Strong understanding of mental health concepts, best practices, and current trends in mental health promotion, stigma reduction, resiliency, and helping behaviors.
- Demonstrated skill in building collaborative and integrative working relationships and in working with people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder groups (e.g., health professionals, educators, the public, managers and other decision makers, private industry).
- Ability to interpret and identify key results from health and other research, and to summarize research findings in plain language.
- Ability to synthesize and translate complex information and experience for different audiences in a variety of formats, including verbally and in writing.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work independently or as part of a team, and take initiative in identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in course content and delivery.
- Comfortable navigating through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and working with quick turnaround times.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload effectively, meet deadlines, and ensure that course content remains relevant and up to date.
- Genuine passion for mental wellness, stigma reduction, and promoting positive change in communities, aligned with the mission and values of Opening Minds.
- Bilingualism in French and English is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and experience with adult learning design is an asset.
