Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.
Job SummaryWe are looking for an individual who can provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team, and contribute to the development of evidence-based practice standards. As a Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges and substance use issues.
About the RoleThis full-time position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including MSP, extended health and dental, and municipal pension plan. Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized direct nursing care, discharge planning, and case coordination services to clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized strength-based treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers and family members.
- Administer prescribed medicines, monitor client response, and provide ongoing information to clients and families about activities of daily living, medication use, and potential side effects.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of a minimum 6-week or 240-hour clinical practicum/preceptorship in a mental health setting, supplemented by completion of coursework in mental health or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.

Estimated Salary Range$41.42-$55.91 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
