Mental Health Nurse Position

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse to join our team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC.
This is a regular part-time position with a 0.72 FTE and a standard hours/week of 27.00. The successful candidate will work in the Psychiatry In-Patient department and will be responsible for providing individualized direct nursing care, discharge planning, and case coordination services to clients with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
Key Responsibilities- Provide nursing assessments and interventions, including facilitating group process, conflict resolution, crisis interventions, individual and group counselling.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized strength-based treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers and family members.
- Administer prescribed medicines, monitor client response, and provide ongoing information to clients and families on activities of daily living, use of medication, and side effects.
- Prepare and maintain client records according to established standards and participate in team meetings, quality improvement activities, and education programs.

Qualifications- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of a minimum 6-week or 240 hours of clinical practicum/preceptorship in a mental health setting, supplemented by completion of coursework in mental health or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
