Job Title: Systems Security Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Systems Security Engineer to join our Geointelligence Engineering Team at MDA Space.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems security and experience working in engineering or information systems environments. They will be responsible for ensuring the security of MDA's Earth Observation space missions and other projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consulting on system architectures, operations concepts, and enhancements from a security perspective;
  • Developing and maintaining security-related system artefacts, including specifications, ICDs, profiles, test documents, and vulnerability assessments;
  • Deriving security requirements, designs, solutions, and mechanisms in response to current security focus, including CSE Security Controls and Directives;
  • Developing security acceptance and accreditation programs for Classified systems;
  • Supporting engineering program delivery through the development and generation of security components of documents, such as engineering plans, budgets, and design reports;
  • Overseeing acceptance plans for security-related aspects of products or systems;
  • Supporting planning and cost estimates for projects and bids.

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant experience in Systems Security;
  • 5+ years working in an engineering or information systems environment;
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification;
  • Understanding of defence project delivery and execution processes from requirements through commissioning and support;
  • Experience maintaining close working relationships with system engineers and customer representatives;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and customer interaction skills;
  • Exceptional leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and project execution strengths.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in accrediting Classified systems for defence involving information systems, cross-domain solutions, and multi-domain interoperability;
  • Experience in Network Defence principles and practices, User Security Management, Information Security, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Risk Assessment;
  • Experience with NIST SP-800 suite, ISO/IEC, DISA STIGs, CIS, SANS standards;
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and working in Security Operation Centres;
  • Hands-On experience with Microsoft Enterprise network suite, SIEMs, vulnerability assessment tools;
  • Establishing Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Programs;
  • Familiarity with requirements management software such as DOORS;
  • Certifications such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance Certification (CGRC).
