The Camp Volunteer Services Director will play a vital role in supporting the onboarding, training, and supervision of volunteers at our summer camps. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with children and youth.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Programming and Event Support: Assist with the preparation, planning, and execution of summer camps, children's ministry events, and Sunday morning programs.
  2. Marketing Strategy: Develop and implement a marketing campaign to recruit volunteers alongside the Pastor of Children's Discipleship and camp staff.
  3. Curriculum Development: Assist the camp staff in creating and revising curriculum for youth and children's camps. Develop engaging activities for campers to participate in active play, creative play, life skills development, and teamwork.
  4. Conflict Resolution: Address disagreements between camp staff, volunteers, and between children if applicable.
  5. Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with children and leaders.
  6. Teamwork: Collaborate with other ministry leaders in the church, take initiative to complete tasks, and adapt to emergencies or changes.
  7. Leadership Rounding: Regularly check into all stations and rooms, providing support to leaders and children to ensure a smooth and safe camp experience.
  8. Post-Camp Evaluation: Gather feedback to help improve camp for the following week and next year. Organize camp clean-up and set up for the next camp.
  9. Personal and Professional Growth: Create and implement an individual development plan (IDP) targeting areas of growth; complete a brief weekly reflection regarding experience, tasks, and self-improvement.
  10. Volunteer Onboarding: Develop a recruitment strategy to attract camp volunteers. Oversee the volunteer onboarding process, including interviews, background screenings, child protection training, and skills training.
  11. Volunteer Training: Co-create and adapt training modules for camp staff and volunteers. Plan and lead camp volunteer trainings for adult and youth volunteers.
  12. Volunteer Communication: Communicate with volunteers regarding onboarding documents, trainings, and camp schedule and logistics. Lead the morning meeting before camp and the volunteer debrief at the end of the day.
  13. Volunteer Scheduling: Manage volunteer scheduling changes and find replacements when necessary.
  14. Camp Preparation: Delegate responsibilities to volunteers in camp preparation.
  15. Volunteer Support: Ensure leaders are fully equipped and empowered in their roles, providing guidance and support.
  16. Volunteer Appreciation: Lead and organize a volunteer and leader appreciation event post-camp.
