Job Opportunity at School District #59 (Peace River South)

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team at Dawson Creek Secondary School (Central Campus). As a Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English and Social Studies to Grade 8-9 students.

About the Role

This is a 1.0 FTE TERM position, effective September 23, 2024 to December 20, 2024 or until the return of the incumbent, whichever comes first.

Responsibilities
  • Teach English and Social Studies to Grade 8-9 students
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement school improvement plans
  • Use performance standards in the area of social responsibility
  • Acquaint with the outcomes and evaluation processes outlined in the new curriculum
Requirements
  • Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
  • Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Experience teaching primary and intermediate/middle school/secondary students
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to work and implement school initiatives and goals
  • Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team
