About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to enhance their quality of life. Your primary goal will be to ensure that the support provided meets the expectations of those individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary liaison with family, medical, educational, leisure, and recreational contacts to ensure seamless support.
  • Provide coaching and support in areas such as social skills, communication, and leisure activities to help individuals achieve their personal outcomes.
  • Identify and address barriers that impact the achievement of quality of life, ensuring that Personal Outcomes are met for each individual.
  • Administer medication as per procedure and follow Behavioural and Crisis Protocols as documented.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports, and community members to ensure a collaborative approach to support.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to other employees to continuously improve the quality of service and work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University, or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or a registered and Ministry-approved Private Career College, and 1 year of related experience (preferably supporting individuals with ASD); OR
  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 5 years of related experience (preferably supporting individuals with ASD).
  • Solid understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the unique support requirements of individuals with this diagnosis.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Ability to complete the NVCI certification and perform required physical techniques (training will be provided at no cost).
  • A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2, and a reliable vehicle.
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.
