Your Opportunity

Our Vancouver office is seeking a highly skilled Associate, M&A and Capital Markets to join our team and take on the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in a range of advisory capital raising assignments, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day execution and delivery of service on projects.
  • Underwrite, structure, and document credit requests, utilizing strong analytical and credit analysis skills.
  • Analyze complex customer financial, organizational, and credit information, preparing credit write-ups for presentation to clients and management.
  • Conduct market and industry research, detailed financial analysis, and business valuations, identifying relevant business, market, and other commercial risks faced by the customer.
  • Using results of analysis and sound judgment, make recommendations to approve or decline transactions based on credit quality, business risk, and market needs.
  • Support senior colleagues in the practice with debt advisory transaction-related activities, including handling the new internal transaction/client "take on" process, reviewing and analyzing new transaction material and due diligence reports, preparing financing models, and negotiating NDAs with prospective lenders.
  • Operate in a regulated environment, adhering to all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the quality of client deliverables by maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Be entrepreneurial in nature, driving growth and practice management in our growing team.

Your Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or related.
  • CA or CPA certification is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience at a bank, credit fund, or reputable advisory firm with demonstrable debt structuring and transaction experience.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills in Excel, with a good foundation of building and working with operational and/or finance models, including analyzing business forecasts, evaluating scenario analysis, and covenant calculations.
  • Understanding and ability to determine appropriate capital structures using a range of debt market products for a given scenario.
  • Ability to review and critically assess transaction materials, including information memoranda, financial and commercial due diligence.
  • Strong appreciation of debt market trends and financing instruments, with the ability to explain these in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong analytical and credit analysis skills.
  • Sound understanding of and ability to analyze key accounting statements, including P&L, BS, and CF.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that help represent diverse communities.
  • Experience in working with diverse teams.

Salary: $56,000-$84,000/year
