Electrical Panel Foreman

Yaskawa America, Inc. - Drives & Motion Division is a leading provider of automation solutions and support to customers in North America, Central America, and South America. As a key member of our team, the Electrical Panel Foreman will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our medium voltage drives business.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to shop personnel, ensuring they have the necessary training and support to excel in their roles.
  • Collaborate with the development group to qualify new product designs, driving sales growth and business success.
  • Perform testing and commissioning procedures for electrical panels, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Test, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, including control circuits, transformers, motors, protective relays, and variable speed drives.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems and industrial automation systems, ensuring they are properly configured and functioning as intended.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations for wire sizing and grounding, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Plan, track, and improve production metrics, including build hours, manpower plans, job costs, and other key performance indicators.
  • Receive and review drawings, detail drawings, and arrange packages for issue to teams, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Evaluate team members periodically, providing feedback and guidance for self-improvement.
  • Provide manufacturability updates to drawings, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure teams follow CSA 286 and UL 508A Industrial Control Panels Codes requirements, as well as customer specifications for each project.
  • Manage shop inventory, providing purchase orders to ensure availability of parts stock to meet production build plans.
  • Assist in technical support and problem-solving for shop assembly, wiring, and equipment installations, as well as production testing.
Qualifications:
  • A Red Seal Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma graduate in electrical engineering technologist or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 3+ years of experience with electrical panels and VFDs is necessary.
  • 3+ years' experience in Power Control/Conversion test equipment and/or electrical assembly is required.
  • Proficiency with shop tools and electrical test equipment is essential.
  • Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and resolve issues expeditiously to meet customer demand rates is crucial.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are necessary.
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics, wiring, and one-line diagrams is required.
  • Computer skills with a fundamental understanding of Microsoft suite of programs are necessary.
