Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Clean and maintain sanitary fixtures, including toilets, urinals, sinks, and showers.
  • Empty garbage and recycling receptacles and dispose of trash and recyclables.
  • Use HIPPO maintenance software to report damage or repairs requests to the Maintenance team.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
  • Promptly report any mechanical or equipment failure, damage, or vandalism to school property to the Lead Custodian, Maintenance, or Manager, Operations.
  • May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or classroom setup.
  • Lock, secure, and activate building security systems.
  • Perform duties in compliance with MITT policies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, students, and the public.

Requirements:

  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • High School Diploma
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate an asset
  • Working knowledge of building cleaning principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with educational facilities.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and special procedures applicable to work (WHMIS and safety practices).
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various cleaning equipment (burnisher, polisher, carpet shampoo machine, etc.).
  • Familiarity with shift work schedule.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record check including vulnerable sector and Child Abuse Registry Check.
