Job Summary

The Louis Riel School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Custodian to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Ensure divisional buildings and properties are safe and in clean condition.
  • Lead and supervise custodial staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school graduation certificate or equivalent training/experience.
  • Valid 5th Class Power Engineer License from the Province of Manitoba.
  • Completion of Respect In School or equivalent training.
  • Minimum 2 years previous custodial/cleaning experience.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health, and Fire Safety.
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations affecting building systems in school facilities.
  • Superior communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the public and school staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and write English and understand simple instructions, diagrams, and procedures to fix and install equipment for regular repairs.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, assign, and share work in an efficient, fair manner.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to coach and work collaboratively with others.
  • Recognize, practice, and demonstrate safety.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Respect confidentiality of work.
  • Lead custodial staff with integrity and respect.
Conditions of Employment
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
  • Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.
  • Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
