As a Domain Architect, you will play a crucial role in defining end-to-end solutions for IT change, focusing on the Guidewire Insurance suite. Your expertise will help create Guidewire-centric designs that are fit for purpose, from a functional, non-functional, service, and security perspective.

The selected candidate will be able to deliver solutions that progress the overall architecture journey and are aligned to Aviva's IT Strategy. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating solutions and designs for Guidewire Insurance platform (Guidewire PolicyCenter, Guidewire ClaimCenter, Guidewire BillingCenter, Guidewire Contact Mgr.) based projects to meet Aviva's standards for technology and ensure they meet our ambitions for availability, security, resilience, and performance.
  • Producing Guidewire design and migration options with associated costs, benefits, and risks to enable investment decisions.
  • Creating migration solutions to convert policies from legacy systems to Guidewire PolicyCenter.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the end-to-end Guidewire solution across platforms, including transition states used to achieve the target state.
  • Shaping and estimating IT initiatives and feature team sprints, ensuring that component parts deliver against business outcomes.
  • Communicating sophisticated technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Recording any solution debt incurred during the transition phase of the solution and addressing the same in future phases.
  • Identifying potential risks and challenges associated with proposed solutions.
  • Developing mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Participating in post-implementation reviews and providing feedback to improve future solution designs.
  • Providing technical leadership, keeping up with technological developments in the Guidewire platform, Guidewire integration, and evaluating how well they fit into the company's architecture.
  • Evaluating Guidewire Cloud Platform features, assessing its capabilities against business needs, and recommending for adoption.
  • Supporting the definition of architecture best practices and standards in the Guidewire space and enforcing them in project solutions.
  • Conducting architecture reviews to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Ensuring design artefacts are produced to support partner groups for service, security, architecture, and engineering.
  • Peer reviewing design artefacts of others.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced team members as required.
  • Developing technical skills to support Aviva's need to understand and exploit emerging technology trends.
  • Identifying, owning, and handling specific key risks and/or IT controls and BP standards that you are identified as the owner and/or nominee for on iCARE or Archer.
  • Ensuring that issues and actions associated with controls/risks are remediated in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that controls are sufficiently well designed and operating effectively to keep the risks that they mitigate within Aviva's tolerance level.
  • Reporting and raising the status of relevant risks, controls, and standards as appropriate.
  • Accountable for working within policy and guidelines, applying technical knowledge and expertise, and prioritizing own use of time.
  • Recommending design solutions or ideas in response to challenges faced by your project or feature team in line with policy and guidelines.
  • Building effective working relationships with Project managers and others on projects.
  • Maintaining liaison with suppliers and relevant sources of technology to ensure specialist knowledge is kept up to date.
