About the Role

Epic Games is seeking a highly skilled Lead Animator to join our team working on Fortnite. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for leading a growing team of animators, helping to mentor and drive the style and feel of Fortnite's animation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of animators, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality animation assets.
  • Take animation from initial concept through implementation in Unreal Engine, ensuring seamless integration with the game's overall vision.
  • Create character-specific animations in Maya using our in-house rigs and tools, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in game animation.
  • Work closely with individual Epic Art Leads and artists on the team to ensure downstream departments have all the information they need to succeed.
  • Ensure animation assets are delivered and shipped successfully and on time, meeting the high standards of Epic Games.
  • Be a point of contact for bug support, triage, and resolution of animation assets, providing expert guidance and support to the team.

Requirements

  • You have an animation reel showcasing key-framed character and creature animations, demonstrating your expertise and creativity.
  • Strong experience with Maya and gameplay systems, with a deep understanding of the Unreal Engine 4 art pipeline.
  • Good instincts for realistic and stylized motions, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of animators.
  • Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 4 art pipeline, with experience working with mocap data and related skills such as modeling, skinning, and rigging.
  • Experience having shipped at least one title, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality animation assets on time.
