Animation Technical Director

At Hasbro, we're seeking a skilled Animation Technical Director to join our team and contribute to the development of our next AAA multiplayer game in the universe of D&D using the Unreal Engine.

The successful candidate will collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to bring our game vision to life, ensuring seamless integration of animation and technical implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing the overall animation vision and determining technical feasibility with game leadership
  • Maintaining detailed documentation for all owned features and identifying risks and mitigation plans
  • Working closely with programmers to assess existing animation and rigging tools and designing custom ones to improve pipelines
  • Supporting animators, game designers, and riggers with technical needs and explaining the root causes of risks and blockers
  • Training team members on tools and techniques and raising awareness of new processes
  • Resolving complex escalated issues and making technical validations
  • Anticipating technological advancements and staying up to date on market trends to define best practices
  • Evaluating, designing, and developing pipelines for the animation team and other departments
  • Supporting technical development across all animation-driven systems

Requirements include:

  • 10+ years of experience developing AAA titles
  • 5+ years of experience as an Animation Technical Director on AAA titles
  • Good knowledge of MotionBuilder, Maya, and Unreal Engine
  • Strong analytical skills and a love for efficient problem-solving
  • Positive and collaborative communication to improve our shared vision
  • Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant appetite for new knowledge and experiences
  • Autonomy, motivation, and ability to manage a feature from start to finish
  • Ability to program or edit scripts is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in English
