We are seeking a highly skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Mines. As a Mine Planning Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and environmentally responsible closure of mines in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and analyze engineering designs and prepare documents, reports, and data for mine closure projects
- Design, conduct, and/or coordinate surveys and engineering/technical investigations to support mine closure planning
- Coordinate compliance audits and action plans for mine closures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Provide professional technical advice and training to staff on mine closure planning and rehabilitation
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Specialized knowledge in mining, civil, chemical, or environmental engineering
- Experience in mine rehabilitation and closure planning
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mining Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and Environmental Bill of Rights
- Technical expertise to identify sources of water, air, and solid pollutants from complex mine closure projects
