Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at Railserve, Canada. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our locomotive fleet.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on locomotives to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues, utilizing your expertise to resolve complex problems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including preventative maintenance sheets, invoices, and shipping documents.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment as needed.
- Conduct regular safety assessments on equipment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Department to implement administrative or engineering controls to minimize safety risks.
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive mechanical experience, with electrical experience a plus.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to operate cutting torch and electrical welder.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as write simple correspondence.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with ability to interact with customers, clients, and colleagues.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to company and customer locations. The role will involve exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and potentially hazardous materials. A valid Driver's license and ability to operate heavy equipment are essential.
