About the Opportunity


As a seasoned professional with 15-20 years of experience in mechanical estimating, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our industrial projects. Located in Scarborough, Ontario, this position offers an exciting chance to work on high-value ICI construction projects.
Duties and Responsibilities

This challenging role includes:

  1. Leading a team of estimators specializing in mechanical projects, preparing accurate cost estimates based on contract bids, quotations, and project specifications.
  2. Advising on tendering procedures, analyzing tenders, and recommending award decisions while negotiating contracts.
  3. Developing and maintaining efficient tendering processes, setting up cost monitoring systems, and ensuring timely reporting.
  4. Collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects to coordinate price packages and facilitate smooth project execution.
  5. Oversight of site reviews, tender reviews, project closing, and operational meetings to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  6. Maintaining a directory of trusted suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  7. Liaising with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies and updates on changes to cost estimates.
  8. Staying abreast of new technologies and industry developments to incorporate the latest methods and procedures into estimates.
  9. Procuring materials and equipment for secured jobs.
  10. Frequent travel to sites or clients to undertake these responsibilities.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong educational background in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Technology, supplemented by relevant work experience.
  • An extensive track record (15-20 years) as a Mechanical Estimator on large-scale ICI projects (over $10M). Qualified tradespeople with related experience are also encouraged to apply.
