Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Cost Estimator to join our team at the SSA Group.

About the Role:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the estimating process for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cost plans, value engineering reports, and project budgets.
  • You will work closely with owners, design consultants, and project managers to develop cost-saving exercises and prepare estimates that meet the needs of our clients.
  • A key aspect of this role is your ability to maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing for our estimates.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop detailed quantity take-off and price labor, material, and equipment portions of estimates.
  2. Manage the estimating process, including site conditions and safety requirements, soliciting suppliers and subcontractors, interpreting project drawings and specifications, preparing quantity surveys, and pricing estimates.
  3. Identify and quantify potential project risks, assisting in risk analysis and management.

Pre-Construction Procurement:

  • Lead internal construction project start-up meetings and administrative project setup.
  • Participate in developing procurement plans, labor and equipment forecasts, logistics plans, and site workflows.
  • Develop bid packages, scopes of work, drawing packages, specifications, and monitor preconstruction schedules.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating and/or project management, with managerial experience considered an asset.
  • Broad range of experience working in multiple contract models, including design-bid-build, progressive design-build, and integrated forms of agreement.
  • Possession of C.E.T or Gold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Project Management is preferred.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
