**Job Description**
\We invite applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor - Designated Position within the School of Architecture. This opportunity is supported by the Dalhousie Diversity Faculty Awards (DDFA) program, aimed at increasing faculty members from historically underrepresented groups.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of architectural education and practice at Dalhousie, focusing on advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) within the field.
**Key Responsibilities:**

- Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, integrating diverse cultural perspectives and EDIA principles.\
- Conduct research exploring innovative approaches to environmental, technological, and societal challenges, with a strong emphasis on EDIA.\
- Make significant service contributions to the School, Faculty, and University, including participating in committees and supporting strategic initiatives.\
- Mentor students, fostering their academic and professional growth, with a focus on supporting underrepresented groups in architecture.\
- Establish connections between the School of Architecture and African Nova Scotian, Indigenous, and other racialized communities, promoting EDIA values through public lectures, workshops, and events.\
- Meet the qualifications outlined below.\

- Education: A degree in Architecture (M. Arch or Ph.D.) or a related field.\
- Experience: Demonstrated expertise in architectural practice, research, or teaching with a focus on EDIA and community engagement.\
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment, and commitment to mentorship and fostering an inclusive climate.\

- A record of publications or creative work contributing to the advancement of knowledge in architecture, emphasizing EDIA principles.\
- Experience in curriculum development incorporating diverse perspectives and addressing the needs of a diverse student body.\
- Active involvement in professional organizations and community groups dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in architecture.\
- Applications should include a curriculum vitae, teaching statement, sample publication(s), dossier of scholarly publications and portfolio of design and/or teaching work, and list of referees.\
This position is part of the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) Bargaining Unit and is designated to candidates who self-identify as persons of Black/African descent, especially African Nova Scotians.
