About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. Reporting to the Health Services Manager and working under the supervision or direction of regulated health professionals, this individual will provide direct, hands-on care based on the needs of the patient and program/unit.
As a member of the collaborative care team, the Medical Support Specialist is responsible for supporting patients' activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living. This role also involves reinforcing patient and family teaching according to established guidelines and the plan of care.
About You
To be successful in this position, candidates should possess:
- A Continuing Care Assistant Program certification with the Department of Health and Wellness
- Provincial Certification with Department of Health and Wellness
- Candidates must submit their certification and be registered and active with the CCA Registry
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset
Hours
This is a Full Time, Long Assignment position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly. The assignment is approximately one year long.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $24.91 to $27.68. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
