The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team at the City of Ottawa is responsible for providing safe, reliable, efficient, timely, and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services. As a Transit Mechanic Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transit system.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transit Mechanic Specialist to perform a wide range of duties related to truck and coach technician work. This includes conducting diagnostic inspections, performing general mechanical overhauls and repairs, and performing daily maintenance repairs on fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting diagnostic inspections of vehicles
  • Performing general mechanical overhauls and repairs
  • Performing daily maintenance repairs
  • Making miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs, and other vehicle systems
  • Operating within a computerized Fleet Management Information System

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program (6720 hours)
  • Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician 310T
  • Considerable knowledge of vehicle systems and standard methods, tools, and equipment used in the trade
  • Safe work practices of the trade
  • Possession of analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Salary and Benefits:

This position offers a competitive salary of $42.833 per hour (2024 rates of pay), as well as comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
