Environmental Services Specialist

About the Role: Alberta Health Services is seeking a dependable and efficient individual to join our Environmental Services team as a cleaner/housekeeper. This role involves performing a range of cleaning services in clinical and non-clinical areas, including treatment rooms, staff areas, and public spaces. As an Environmental I, you will make a difference to staff, volunteers, patients and families alike by ensuring hospitals and healthcare facilities are properly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained to provide a healthy environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities: The Environmental I performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments. These tasks may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, restocking supplies in bathroom facilities, stripping linen and remaking beds, and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. The individual in this role must also identify and report potential hazards to their Working Leader.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. You must also be physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 22 lbs of force. In addition, you must have basic knowledge of computer programs, such as email, and be able to read, write, speak, understand and follow written and oral directions in English. A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 1 year of previous experience performing environmental cleaning duties in a hospital or institution is preferred. Previous knowledge and application of WHMIS is also preferred.
