Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Capital Accounts Payable Officer to join our team at the University of Toronto.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that reports to the Manager, Accounts Payable. As a Capital Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for performing various financial operations essential to the capital portfolio's financial management. These duties include timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments for capital projects, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with policies and directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable Processing: Process accounts payable in accordance with the University Guide to Financial Management
  • Approval Verification: Ensure proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactions
  • Journal Entry Preparation: Prepare and/or process journal entries for capital projects
  • Information Verification: Verify the accuracy and completeness of information
  • Cost Recovery Invoicing: Prepare and issue invoices for cost recovery for capital projects
  • Error Resolution: Identify and analyze data discrepancies and take necessary actions to correct errors
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and recommend improvements to financial processes and procedures
  • Liaison Work: Liaise with clients and vendors to resolve minor complaints and address issues

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have an advanced college diploma (3 years) or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Additionally, you should possess a minimum of three years of recent and related experience in an accounting position. You should also have experience processing high-value and volume expenditures, identifying and analyzing financial data, and working as part of a large project team.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is between $66,715 and $85,319 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The pay scale group and hiring zone are USW Pay Band 09.
