Position Summary

The City of Brantford is seeking a skilled Community Resource Navigator to join our Community Strategies and Family Supports Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping individuals and families access community resources, including healthcare, employment services, housing options, childcare, and other essential supports.

This is an in-person/on-site position based out of the Ontario Works Office in Brantford. As a Community Resource Navigator, you will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and developing new resources and partnerships that benefit underserved and marginalized families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide navigation services to Ontario Works clients with complex needs, including mental illness, addiction, and homelessness
  • Support successful referrals to service providers in the community
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the effective delivery of services
  • Seek out resources and partnerships that benefit underserved and marginalized families
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum one-year post-secondary diploma/certificate in Community or Social Services or a related field
  • Minimum one-year of relevant experience working with at-risk and marginalized communities, including complex social issues
  • Familiarity with municipal policies and procedures, as well as local community agencies and service providers, is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of pertinent provincial and federal legislation and guidelines related to mental health, income support programs, employment, and training
  • Ability to travel to other locations in the community, as needed
  • Satisfactory Police Check Vulnerable Sector required as a condition of employment
