Job Summary

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our Forensic Service team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological services to clients from diverse backgrounds who may be suffering from mental health and addiction problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise psychological services, including evidence-based assessment, treatment, and consultation for clients in the Forensic Service.
  • Conduct risk assessments, psychological assessments, and assess for malingering for court-ordered NCR assessments through the Brief Assessment Unit.
  • Attend and contribute to clinical discussions at case conferences and inform other clinical discussions and processes.
  • Support assessments, treatment, and case consultation across the service, including the Forensic Assessment and Consultation team (FORCAT), the Brief Assessment Unit (BAU), and the Office of the Person in Charge (OPIC).
  • Take a leadership role in education, clinical training, and other academic activities within the program.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and research.
  • Support capacity building and inter-professional education, including clinical supervision of individual and group-based practice offered by other clinicians in the Forensic Service.
  • Provide training and supervision to doctoral-level psychology students/residents and learners across disciplines.
Requirements
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to practice Clinical Psychology with forensic populations.
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology combined with 3 years of clinical experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Criminal Code and the ORB.
  • Extensive experience conducting risk and strength-based assessments, and psychological testing for court-ordered assessments.
  • Extensive experience with empirically supported psychosocial intervention, including competence in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for psychosis, third-wave behavioral interventions (e.g. DBT, ACT etc.), and extensive training and experience in motivational interviewing.
  • Research and/or evaluation experience in applied clinical contexts is an asset.
  • Experience working with a forensic mental health patient population is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language.
