Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parks Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of Victoria BC. As a key member of our Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of our public parks and open spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of tasks related to park maintenance, including horticulture, arboriculture, turf, and infrastructure.
  • Operate industrial vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, aerial lift trucks, and leaf vacuum trucks.
  • Use specialized tools and equipment, including brush chippers, loaders, and stump grinders.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, perform minor maintenance on equipment, and record accurate daily equipment logs.
  • Provide instructions and information to other staff as required and respond to general enquiries from the public and other departments.

Working Conditions

Work is assigned by supervisor and reviewed while in progress. Problems are referred to supervisor.

Requirements

  • Grade 10
  • Current and valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • 2 years of directly related experience in commercial landscape, horticulture and/or tree maintenance

What We Offer

A competitive hourly rate of $33.40 per hour, Pay Grade 6, and a 40 hour work week. This is a CUPE Local 50 Position.
