Actuarial Consultant/Senior Actuarial Analyst

Wawanesa Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Pricing Research and Development team. As a key member of this team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our pricing sophistication through the development of loss cost models and collaborating with pricing leaders to optimize rate changes for our members.
Key Responsibilities- Analytical Research and Data Analysis: Conduct complex data analysis, extract insights, and manipulate data from various sources to support business decisions and drive process improvements.
- Process Improvement and Efficiency: Identify areas for increased efficiency, develop new approaches to problem-solving, and implement advanced techniques to automate routine tasks.
- Industry Trends and Analysis: Stay up-to-date with emerging industry trends, analyze their impact on Wawanesa, and represent the company at external events.
- Commitment to Learning: Engage in continuous professional development, build cross-functional knowledge, and share new skills and expertise with the team.
- Stakeholder Management: Provide regular project updates, anticipate obstacles, and raise them in advance.
- Project Management: Lead projects from start to finish, including implementation and training.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Contribute to the mentorship, training, and development of actuarial analysts.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Build trust and credibility with peers, develop strong working relationships across teams, and lead by example.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- More than four years of actuarial experience is an asset.
- 7 CAS exams or ACAS designation is an asset.
- Experience with machine learning modeling or other pricing modeling methods and software.
- Ability to translate problem-solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to apply knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance, and business to problems in insurance.
- Understanding of database systems and how to interpret/extract data from those systems.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at the right level of complexity for the audience.
- Ability to develop timelines for projects and handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner while proactively keeping leaders informed of progress.
- Works efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment and involves others when appropriate.
- Ability to ask effective questions to elicit detailed and relevant information.
