Key Responsibilities- Lead the maintenance and engineering teams to maintain the hotel's grounds and physical plant, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance of hotel systems.
- Manage and coordinate the work of external contractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
- Monitor and control energy consumption to minimize expenses and reduce the hotel's environmental impact.
- Develop and implement energy conservation programs to reduce energy consumption and costs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operation of hotel systems and services.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure the engineering team is up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices.
- Monitor and report on the performance of the engineering team, including metrics such as productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to develop and implement strategic plans to improve the hotel's engineering operations.
- 6 years' experience in engineering and maintenance or a related field, with a strong background in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- 2 or 3-year degree from an accredited university in a related field, such as building and construction, engineering, or mechanics.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and Ontario Fire Code.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in chillers, boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
- Previous experience working in a full-service hotel is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Computer and office skills, with proficiency in software applications such as MESH.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
